FAQ

What is a Senior Home Transition Professional?
  • A Senior Home Transition Professional specializes in assisting older adults and their families with the physical and emotional aspects of relocation and/or “aging in place.”

Who uses Senior Home Transition Professionals?
  • Older adults, family members, retirement communities, bank and trust officers, geriatric care managers, attorneys, social service providers/social workers, physicians and allied health providers, realtors, staging professionals.

What makes a Senior Home Transition Professional different from a moving company?
  • Senior Home Transitional Professionals provide a multi-faceted approach to the move process: from floor planning in the beginning to post-move support. We address all aspects of the move process and execute a seamless transition plan, customized to your wishes. Movers generally don’t help with downsizing decisions, unpacking, putting things away, or hanging art on the wall.

Do you offer consultations?
  • We offer complimentary phone consultations or in home visits.

How much does a home transition cost?
  • That’s a natural question, but it’s a difficult one to answer without seeing the actual contents of the home. We can provide a comprehensive quotation based on the scope of the project. As a rule of thumb, your transition costs may be equivalent to one month’s rent and meals in a retirement community.

Do I have to be there during the actual move?
  • No! Most seniors choose to spend the move day with their family and leave the physical details to us. We coordinate everything with the movers and the residences while families usually spend time doing errands, last minute shopping, or sometimes organizing a day at the spa!

When is the right time to move?
  • While we cannot advise individuals when the time is right for them to move, we strongly recommend you make a proactive decision to move, so that you are controlling the decision instead of responding to an illness or hardship.
